Why Smart Sensors

Smart Sensors enhance the safety and security of your boat and our marina community in a simple, seamless way. Incidents like fires, water damage, electrical failures, and uncontrolled battery consumption often occur while you're away from your boat. Our sensors will monitor these risks in your absence, alerting you and our team to help prevent various common hazards when sudden changes in measurements are detected. These sensors are economical, easy to install (no wires or electricians required), and come with a battery that lasts up to five years. They do not connect to your boat’s electronics and will not void the boat's warranty.

Sensor pack based on the Sense4Boat platform

The Sense4Boat platform used by D-Marin enables you to not worry about the safety of your boat, the status of the batteries, and other issues. With Sense4Boat’s innovative technology, we make sure that even when you are sound asleep, or far away, if there is a problem, your boat has a way to call for help.

image

How does it work

The Sense4Boat platform is powered by autonomous sensors optimized for maritime use, designed to monitor key safety factors on boats. In the event of an alert—such as water ingress, a sudden rise in temperature, smoke detection, battery voltage drop, battery overheating, or unauthorized movement of the boat—the sensors notify the Sense4Boat Automatic Control Center, which then alerts both the boat owner and the marina.

image

NO CENTRAL UNIT/HUB NEEDED

Completely autonomous sensors, which communicate with the Sense4Boat control centre with a direct internet connection.

NOT CONNECTED TO BOAT'S POWER

Sense4Boat sensors come with internal batteries, which means you can turn off the main switch when you are away and they will still work. The Sensors do not require any connection to boat’s power.

NO SIM CARD NEEDED

Compatible with a global Sigfox 0G network, our sensors do not require a SIM card. No roaming or extra charges for connectivity.

UP TO 5 YEARS BATTERY LIFE

Thanks to 0G connectivity and smart internal software, Sense4Boat sensors will remind you to change their batteries. Once in 5 years.

SMART BILGE SENSOR

The Smart Bilge Sensor monitors bilge water levels, alerting you or our marina of any sinking risks or potential damage from long-term water accumulation

image

SMART BILGE SENSOR

Comprehensive Protection with the Smart Bilge Sensor

The Smart Bilge Sensor continuously monitors the water level in the bilge and prevents not only sinking of a boat, but also damage from the water accumulated in the bilge over a long period of time.

The water detection is performed via a robust marine - grade float switch which can be installed in any bilge configuration, at a desired height.

This sensor also monitors temperature and will alert you of possible freezing hazard if the temperature falls below 2°C. The sensor performs a self-check every 24h and reports its health status to you and the Sense4Boat control centre.

HOW TO INSTALL THE BILGE SENSOR?

  1. Activate the sensor

Hold the Activation Magnet on the activation spot of the sensor for 5 seconds and then remove it. The Status LED will repeatedly blink in red colour to confirm activation.

2. Test the bilge sensor before securing it in the bilge

Connect the cable with the Float Switch to the connector on the Main Body. Remove the transport lock from the float switch and raise the float. Keep the float switch raised for at least 30 seconds. After 60 seconds you will receive an alert via an SMS message, an automated phone call and a push notification.

3. Secure the sensor in a vertical position and above the water line

Secure the main body of the sensor in a vertical position. For better signal reception, make sure it is high as possible and above the water line. Choose a height in your bilge where water will raise the float switch and trigger an alert. Use silicon glue to secure the float switch at that position in your bilge.

SMART BATTERY SENSOR

The Smart Battery Sensor monitors voltage and temperature, alerting you and the marina to prevent deep discharge and extend battery life. Notifications are sent when thresholds are exceeded.

image

SMART BATTERY SENSOR

Advanced Battery Monitoring for Enhanced Safety

This sensor continuously monitors the voltage and temperature of your batteries. Whenever

the battery voltage changes, a message with the latest measurement is sent to the Sense4Boat control centre and compared with the configurable thresholds for diverse alerting conditions.

You can specify your own thresholds for low or critical battery voltages and get notified

whenever those conditions occur. The sensor will also inform you when the batteries are

charging and even alert you if the batteries are overheating (boiling) during the charging

process. This sensor is designed for one battery bank with an unlimited number of batteries.

HOW TO INSTALL THE BATTERY SENSOR?

1. Activate the sensor

Hold the Activation Magnet on the activation spot of the sensor for 5 seconds and then remove it. The Status LED will repeatedly blink in red colour to confirm activation.

2. Connect the sensor to a battery bank

Connect the cable with the red and black battery connectors to the Main Body of the sensor.

Connect both black wires to the negative electrode and the red wire to the positive electrode of the battery bank you wish to monitor. Make sure the sensor is above the water line. Wait a few minutes (up to 15 min) to see the battery data in the app.

If you do not see the sensor data on the main screen of the app, pull down on the screen with your finger to load the data again.

3. Secure the sensor in a vertical position and above the water line

Secure the sensor in a vertical position. For better signal transmission, make sure it is as high as possible and above the water line.

SMART SMOKE SENSOR

The Smart Smoke Sensor detects smoke in cabins to reduce fire risk. Battery-powered and optimised for smouldering fires, it also monitors temperature and humidity.

image

SMART SMOKE SENSOR

Comprehensive Smoke Detection for Early Fire Prevention

The battery-powered photoelectric smoke sensor is designed to protect you and your boat from the dangers of smoke and fire. Optimised for detecting slow smouldering fires which generate light smoke, little heat and may smoulder for hours before bursting into flames. In addition to detecting smoke this sensor also monitors daily average temperature and humidity values.

In case of a smoke incident, the smoke sensor will generate a beeping signal and notify the Sense4Boat control centre.

The alerts will be forwarded to you via a notification on your smartphone, email and phone call. Your home marina will be instantly informed as well.

HOW TO INSTALL THE SMOKE SENSOR?

1. Put the provided battery in the sensor

Open the battery compartment on the back of the sensor to place the battery inside. Make sure to push the Reminder Tab down with the negative end of the provided battery.

2. Test the sensor

Once you have connected the sensor with your account in the D Marin app, you can press the middle part of the sensor for 3 seconds. You will hear a loud BEEP, and you should get the smoke alarm Push Notification in the App with the message about the smoke alarm test.

3. Place and secure the sensor in a desired location

Depending on the configuration of your boat, choose a location for the sensor. Ideally, place it on a chosen cabin wall, about 20 cm below the ceiling, or on the ceiling itself. Do not place it in direct sunlight, nor close to sources of occasional smoke like the stove. Secure the provided sensor base with screws (recommended) or glue to the cabin wall, making sure the arrows on the base point up, then press and firmly turn the sensor to the base to lock it in place.

Note: Cancelling the alarm

In case you accidentally triggered the smoke alarm, you have 30 seconds to press the middle button to cancel the alarm. The sensor will then stay inactive for the next 10 minutes.

SMART HEAT SENSOR

The Smart Heat Sensor detects temperature changes, reducing the risk of fire and freezing. Ideal for monitoring enclosed spaces like engine rooms and electrical cabinets.

image

SMART HEAT SENSOR

Engine Room Safety with High-Temperature Detection

This special sensor, resistant to high temperatures often found in engine rooms, continuously monitors and detects the smallest changes in temperature. It is perfectly suited to monitor temperature in an enclosed space such as the engine room or the electrical cabinet.

Every temperature change is sent and processed in the Sense4Boat control centre where it is compared to the user-defined thresholds for specific alerting conditions (low/high/severe temperature, rapid temperature rise).

If those thresholds are exceeded, an alert is generated as a possible indication of fire or high risk of fire.

HOW TO INSTALL THE HEAT SENSOR?

1. Activate the sensor

Hold the Activation Magnet on the activation spot of the sensor for 5 seconds and then remove it. The Status LED will repeatedly blink in red colour to confirm activation.

2. Find a suitable location for the heat sensor

Since heat raises upwards, we advise you to place this sensor as high as possible in the compartment which you wish to monitor. Also, if you can, make sure your sensor is near the batteries, battery charger or any other device that might heat up and cause a fire. The temperature node should not be obscured by wires, hoses or anything else.

3. Secure the sensor in a vertical position and above the water line

Secure the sensor in a vertical position. For better signal transmission, make sure it is as high as possible and above the water line.

This is not a life-saving device nor a replacement for a fire alarm system.

SMART GPS LOCATOR

The Smart GPS Locator offers theft protection with GPS/GLONASS tracking. Set safe zones and receive alerts when your boat moves, with periodic updates while in motion.

image

SMART GPS LOCATOR

Advanced GPS Locator for Ultimate Theft Protection

This new generation, battery powered, GPS / GLONASS locator is a perfect theft protection device, as it can be installed virtually anywhere on a boat and is highly resistant to signal jamming.

Set safe zones, using the accompanying app and get notified when your boat is not where it should be. The GPS is activated when it senses movement and then starts sending its location periodically (from every 10 minutes to every 3 hours). Once the movement ends, the device returns to “sleep” and sends its location once per day.

Due to its small size and replaceable 3xAA lithium batteries this GPS locator can be used to monitor the location of boats, dinghys, jet skis, outboard engines or anything else you wish to protect from theft.

HOW TO INSTALL THE GPS LOCATOR?

1. Put the provided batteries in the sensor

Unscrew the back of the sensor to open it and place the batteries inside. While closing the sensor ensure that the seal is clean and correctly positioned, and that the screws are fully tightened in a uniform manner.

2. Place and secure the sensor in a desired position

Depending on what exactly you wish to track, or protect from theft, you can place the sensor under the hood of the outboard engine, under the bench of a dinghy, in the engine room, or anywhere in any cabin of the boat. Just make sure it is above the water line to ensure good signal transmission.

The sensor relies on vibration sensing to turn on and start sending GPS coordinates, so make sure you place it somewhere where the vibrations of the boat moving, or engine running, are felt.

The app provides additional vibration sensitivity, periodic location check and other settings which you can tweak for optimal use.
