D-Marin Lefkas Marina proudly announces its return as the main sponsor of the Lefkada Green Half Marathon, for the fourth consecutive year – cementing its tradition as the primary sponsor following many successful years. The marathon, now in its 12th year, is set to take place on 31st May, reinforcing D-Marin’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and sustainable initiatives across the Ionian Islands.
The Green Half Marathon holds significant importance for D-Marin Lefkas, part of the D-Marin selection of premium marinas, which has helped the event grow into one of the most prominent athletic events in the region. With participants expected from across Greece and beyond, the race promotes a healthy, eco-conscious lifestyle. This year, inclusivity takes centre stage with the participation of 15 individuals with disabilities, who will complete the course with the support of companions and specially adapted wheelchairs. It is a powerful demonstration of community spirit and the event’s accessibility for all.
Races will include the half marathon, 10km and 5km distances, as well as a 1,000m race for children aged 6–15 years. Notably, a portion of proceeds from the children’s race will be donated to support the medical and pharmaceutical needs of local children, providing direct benefit to families on the island.
The route begins and ends at the Lefkada Cultural Centre, highlighting the island’s natural charm during the golden hours of sunset. In line with D-Marin’s commitment of promoting and protecting the region as a premier yachting destination, the event takes place in an environment of high ecological importance, including the Lagoon of Lefkada, protected under the NATURA network. The event not only promotes fitness but also celebrates environmental awareness, core values shared by D-Marin.
