This weekend, eight crews from Croatia and Slovenia will compete in the Zadar Channel. Three buoy course races and one navigation race are planned. The first start is expected at 11am, weather permitting.
Competitions such as the CRO ORC D-Marin Cup regatta encourage the further development of nautical tourism and position Croatia as one of the top sailing destinations in Europe.
“We are delighted to open another season of the ORC regatta in the marina D-Marin Borik. Such competitions are a great opportunity to promote not only sailing but also the destinations where they are held”,said the D-Marin Group.
“This year, we continue our successful cooperation with D-Marin, the marina which is also the promoter of regatta sailing in the category of cruisers. Thanks to this cooperation, it is much easier to maintain a high level of competition, especially in terms of organisation, because the best crews in the category of cruisers are competing in the ORC regattas, both in Croatia and abroad”,said the president of ORC Sailing Association Luka Šangulin.
ORC International, the classification system according to which world and European championships are held, has been applied in Croatia for more than 20 years. In this way, different sailboats can be levelled, which allows crews to compete evenly, regardless of the type and size of the sailboat.
