D-Marin’s Biohut® wins Best CSR Initiative at Cannes Yachting Festival 2026

D-Marin, the selection of premium marinas, has been recognised at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026 Innovation Route Awards, with its flagship marine biodiversity restoration initiative using Ecocean’s Biohut® solution named Best CSR Initiative.

The award recognises D-Marin’s innovative approach to integrating biodiversity restoration into marina environments through the deployment of Biohut® units, supporting juvenile fish populations and contributing to healthier coastal ecosystems.

The programme has also received a Silver Award at the Tourism Awards 2026 in the category of ‘Initiatives for Conserving Land and Marine Biodiversity’.

Developed by Ecocean, the patented Biohut® solution has been deployed by D-Marin at four marinas across four Mediterranean countries: Port Camille Rayon in France, Gouvia in Greece, Porto Mirabello in Italy and Dalmacija in Croatia.

A total of 171 Biohut® units have been installed at locations selected by Ecocean’s marine biologists and professional divers. Discreetly integrated within existing marina infrastructure, the units provide shelter and feeding grounds for juvenile fish and invertebrates.

At Port Camille Rayon, three years of monitoring recorded 14 fish species, 42 invertebrate and cryptobenthic species, and eight species of fisheries interest.

Beyond ecological restoration, the initiative promotes environmental education and community engagement. At Port Camille Rayon, around 50 local schoolchildren took part in Biodiversity Day activities, discovering marine species associated with Biohut® and learning about marine biodiversity and conservation.
