CRO ORC D-Marin National Championship to kick off on Friday

November, 4

D-Marin Mandalina and Val Sailing Club will once again host the CRO ORC National Championship.

The regatta will kick off on Friday, November 5, with the opening race starting at noon in the gorgeous Šibenik archipelago. It will last until Sunday afternoon, when the awards ceremony will take place.

The event will welcome sixteen crews from Istria and Kvarner, all the way down to Dubrovnik. Even the top two Czech crews have registered for the regatta: one of them, the Hebe V crew, won second place at the 2019 ORC World Championship in Šibenik.

The crews will compete on a windward-leeward course off the island of Zlarin. The plan is also to allow them to compete in a single navigation race of around twenty nautical miles. The competition has never been stronger, which means it will be an unpredictable regatta.

The ORC International rules have been in use in Croatia for over two decades now. It is a rating system applied by both World and European Championships and equating the different types of boats. These rules and regulations allow crews to participate in fair races, regardless of the types or sizes of their boats.

D-Marin relies on sponsorships to promote the sport of sailing and recreational yachting, as well as the different destinations hosting the competitions. D-Marin Group believes all that is vital for the positioning of Croatia as one of the most beautiful sailing destinations in Europe.
